Engineering Excellence Across Continents – Successful Commissioning in Ethiopia and the UAE

Jul 07, 2025

On June 24th, a new chapter of global collaboration began as one of our experienced engineers embarked on an overseas journey for the commissioning and support of Light Gauge Steel (LGS) framing machines. The itinerary included two strategic destinations—Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates—each representing a growing demand for high-quality steel framing technology in their respective construction sectors.

The journey started in Ethiopia, where a valued client had recently purchased a multi-size LGS machine. This client, a visionary entrepreneur with established businesses in both Canada and Ethiopia, is now channeling his efforts into infrastructure and housing development in his homeland. His decision to invest in a versatile LGS system reflects not only a strong belief in the future of light steel framing but also his commitment to helping modernize the Ethiopian construction industry.

Upon arrival, our engineer was warmly received and immediately got to work. The commissioning process included assembling and testing the machine, ensuring all systems functioned optimally, and integrating the software with the client’s operational workflow. But the job didn't end there. Our engineer also provided hands-on training to the Ethiopian team, many of whom were working with such advanced machinery for the first time. The training sessions covered everything from machine operation and routine maintenance to software usage and troubleshooting.

“Training the staff was crucial,” the engineer reported. “It wasn’t just about handing over the machine—it was about empowering the team to use it effectively and independently.”

The client expressed immense satisfaction with the machine’s performance and the training his team received. “This partnership is a turning point for our operations in Ethiopia,” he commented. “With this technology and the knowledge transfer provided, we are now better equipped to scale up our projects and contribute to the nation's development.”

With the Ethiopian commissioning successfully completed, the engineer then boarded a flight to the next destination: the United Arab Emirates. Here, another important customer awaited the setup of a C89 LGS machine, a high-performance model known for its strength, speed, and adaptability in light steel construction.

In the UAE, the focus of support was different. While the machine hardware was already in excellent condition, the client had encountered a challenge with file format compatibility, which prevented them from producing steel profiles exactly as intended. Our engineer quickly diagnosed the issue, which was rooted in the translation of design files between different software systems. After several tests and adjustments, he provided a streamlined solution that allowed the client to use their preferred design software while maintaining compatibility with the LGS system.

“It’s not uncommon to face digital integration issues in today’s complex workflows,” the engineer explained. “But with a bit of custom configuration and training, we made it work perfectly for their setup.”

The UAE client praised the technical expertise and professionalism shown throughout the visit, noting that such personalized support added significant value to their investment.

As of now, both machines are operating smoothly in their respective countries, with local teams fully trained and ready to utilize the advanced capabilities of their equipment. These commissioning trips highlight the importance of not just selling machines but also providing comprehensive after-sales support, training, and problem-solving services.

By building strong relationships and sharing expertise across borders, we continue to empower clients around the world to build smarter, faster, and better. The June journey to Ethiopia and the UAE stands as a proud example of our commitment to customer success, no matter where they are located.
